Does my child have a visual impairment?

The following is a list of just some of the red flags that may indicate, or put your child at risk of a visual impairment:

 
  • Visual impairment of 20/70 or worse after correction
  • Pre-maturity
  • Cortical Visual Impairment, Cerebral Visual Impairment
  • Delayed Visual Maturation
  • Monocular Vision
  • Family History of Visual Impairments
  • Visual Perceptual Problems
  • History of Untreated Eye Conditions
  • Impaired visual motor function resulting from strabismus or cerebral palsy
  • Congenital Infections
  • Hereditary Syndromes/Disorders
  • Visual attending and or visual examining behaviors are less than anticipated
  • Head Injury
  • Loss of oxygen
  • Flashers or floaters
  • Light sensitivity
